This is higher than the level of a healthy boy. A woman is generally somewhat lower - 14 would be very good, and 12 healthy volunteers. Can not give blood, 11.5 and a woman.
A man is not allowed to donate blood if they can reach values under 12 and in some countries, with 12.5.
Serum ferritin measures the amount of ferritin in the blood. This is an estimate of total body iron.
Normal Values:
Male: 12-300 ng / ml
Female: 12-150 ng / ml
In the normal levels may indicate:
chronic gastrointestinal bleeding
heavy menstrual bleeding
Iron deficiency anemia
Be kept higher than normal, may contain:
Alcoholic liver disease
Hemochromatosis
Anemia
Hodgkin's Lymphoma
megaloblastic anemia
Any inflammatory disease can lead to an increased rate of ferritin.
